Vern & Ruth Johnson kicked the day off at 8 a.m. with a breakfast of muffins,
sweet rolls, fruit tray, Spanish breakfast rolls, juice, and coffee.  Then Lyle led
the ride through hill and dale to his house in Tyler for hors d’oeuvres prepared
by “Alice in Wonderland.”  She whipped up a special recipe of salsa dip for
chips and deviled eggs to round out the array of finger foods.

Lyle took over for Marlin Parbs who was on a run to Pullman and led the ride through Cheney, Marshall, Hangman Valley with beautiful, expensive homes surrounding the golf course.  And on through Valleyford and Mica to Marlin & Fran’s gorgeous home in southeast Spokane Valley for Fran’s special preparation of a delicious Waldorf-type salad and Chicken Caesar salad—absolutely great!  Someone tried to get away with Fran’s beautiful grandfather’s clock but couldn’t get in his motorcycle trunk!

Text Box: Talk about thinking of everything!  Of course, all bikes were welcome and gave an already fabulous home some additional “curb appeal.”

Hattie Wales jumped onto her fast trike and led participants through valley traffic, over the Argonne Pass to Bigelow Gulch, and onto Francis Avenue (was it named for a man or a woman?).  After several stop lights we reached North Indian Trail Road and followed it to Bedford Street and Hattie & Larry’s new home for the greatest homemade lasagna we’ve ever tasted—also beverages and a game or two of “Testicle Toss.”  Great job Hattie and Larry!

Then came the ride of the day led by Michael Mustered (oops, Lyle again) through the maze of streets, stop lights, and traffic of Greater Spokane to I-90 and eastward to Barker Road and Mustered’s home on Nixon Avenue for dessert.  What will it be?  Pie?  Cake?  Cobbler”  Cookies?  No, it was the all-American favorite—ice cream—with a variety of toppings and bananas.  What, no bananas?  Matilda, what were you thinking?  Whatever, it was the perfect ending to a day of friendship, camaraderie, great rides, and fantastic food.

Text Box: Helen helps Melinda get dessert ready for the final course of a wonderful day.  Thank you one and all!

A special thank you to Helen Morgan for her dash from stop to stop with leftovers, help,
and calming influence on nervous hostesses!

All 28 participants gratefully appreciate Steve and Hattie’s organization and planning, and, of course, those who prepared the delicious food and refreshments at each stop.  The perfect riding weather made the trips between stops even more enjoyable.  Sorry Bob and Marlin, you missed it all along with those who also had other obligations.
